A team of four undergraduate students from Northgate Institute of Engineering was declared the winner of a national-level hackathon held over a 36-hour build window.
The team's entry, an offline-first disaster alert system, focused on low-bandwidth delivery of emergency instructions through mesh relays and SMS fallbacks. Judges evaluated entries on problem clarity, working prototype and deployment readiness.
The students said the campus innovation lab and mentoring from faculty helped them convert an earlier class project into a competition-ready prototype.
